Alameda County Assessor candidate Phong La literally came to America on the back of his ancestors. Following the end of the war, Vietnam was a hopeless place once the communists took control. “They took everything, including my family’s boat. My grandfather had to go and literally buy back the same boat.” said La.
The East Bay Times endorses Phong La for Alameda County Assessor!
Of all the candidates, the editorial states: “real estate and tax attorney Phong La stands out. He has seen the office from the other side, having helped clients challenge their property assessments. He wants to improve the customer experience, with greater emphasis on electronic access and opening of satellite offices in south and east county. All good suggestions. But most important is his legal experience, which should ground him well for a job that often centers around application of complex state property tax laws.”
“La is the best pick in this field. Voters should elect him to replace [Ron] Thomsen.”
